In this semi-performance, my friend Sharif Farrag demonstrates a work created during the LeRoy Neiman Fellowship that explores the site, rituals, and objects of Ox Bow as primary source material for orientation.

Holding a floating needle compass made from found materials on his lap, the directionality of posture and position becomes immediately readable and legible to the audience. Almost acting as a navigational device and anchor, the performance slowly shifts the focus from the artist’s body to the viewer’s own placement within the environment, demanding a recalibration of one's position in space.
